CEE Story From The Mission Field

September IMB Trustee Meeting

September 15, 2005

From Clyde Meador, Executive Vice President of the IMB, SBC:

I am writing to share with you a brief report of the highlights of the Board meeting held in Pensacola, Florida. We are thankful to the Lord that our hotels and meeting place had not been damaged substantially during the recent hurricanes, and that the meeting could proceed as planned.

The major event of the Board meeting was the appointment of 86 new missionaries on Tuesday night at Hillcrest Baptist Church. The service was a special time of praying for those obeying God's call to serve overseas and of remembering our purpose as an organization - making Jesus Christ known among all peoples.

Most of the business conducted at this Board meeting was routine. Bill Hogg was affirmed to serve as Richmond Associate for Central Asia, effective February 15, 2006, while Clayton Slagle was affirmed to serve as a Strategy Associate for Central Asia, effective this month.

Additionally, the portion of the 2004 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering that had not been previously budgeted was allocated to the 2005 budget in the following manner:

$2,636,222 - missionary expense
$2,000,000 - disburse to regions
$750,000 - security contingency training
$500,000 - West Africa Emphasis

Thank you for your support. Our November board meeting is Nov 14-16 in Huntsville, Alabama.

May the Lord bless!
