The Moldovan Baptist Union in partnership with the Georgia Baptist Convention and Team Moldova, IMB, are currently engaged in a 40-day evangelistic campaign. In John Tarrer’s report of May 4, 2007, over 233 people have committed their lives to Christ and many have rededicated themselves to Christ. Leaders of the Moldovan Baptist Union recently expressed a vision to see a New Testament church planted in each Moldovan village within the coming years. Be in prayer for this special time of spiritual awakening and revival as the Gospel is being presented en masse throughout Moldova in the context of this 40-day campaign.

Because of high unemployment, many of the Gagauz, including evangelicals, leave Moldova to find work in various surrounding countries. Most are gone for several months at a time, which puts a strain on churches as well as on families. Please pray for evangelical pastors and leaders to have a vision for expanding the leadership base by training new leaders in small groups. Pray that small group ministry would also be seen as a tool for spiritually supporting families as well as a tool for evangelism.

Praise the Lord that English classes in villages throughout Gagauzia have opened the way for sharing the gospel and leading people to faith in Christ. But most of the impact through these classes has been on young girls. Please join Team Gagauz in praying for opportunities to impact the lives of young men through sports ministries. Pray for volunteer sports teams to share their skills in baseball and American football as a means of building relationships for witnessing. Pray for longer term volunteers who can coordinate an ongoing sports ministry. Pray for local evangelicals who can also join in this ministry.

Considered the poorest country in Europe, Moldova is a place of need on nearly every level. Many people seek hope outside of the country as they try to solve their physical needs, but this hope never lasts. Pray that lasting hope through Jesus will be sought and found in the lives of Moldovans.
