CEE [vision essentials]

CEE IS the Southern Baptist International Mission Board’s region of Central and Eastern Europe. With the largest landmass of any IMB region worldwide, CEE covers 12 time zones, 25 countries, and 440 peoples, cities, and population segments. This region is defined by the lingering shadow of Communism—the oppression of spirit and repression of freedoms that robbed people of their identity and dignity. The residual effect of this passing regime now permeates society as a sense of hopelessness. A cavernous void exists in the very soul of the people that longs to be filled—a void left by an atheistic system that imprisoned its inhabitants in demeaning commonality. Though the population had longed for freedom, it arrived with a sense of disillusionment. The road back to true freedom will require more than a new government. It will take hope.

WE, THE MISSIONARIES of CEE, are partnering with others to sow hope in this region. We proclaim Christ—the true hope of every heart. We work to make the message of Christ understandable through language and culture acquisition and available through widespread evangelism that results in churches. We are here because we are called—some for a lifetime as career missionaries, some on short-term assignments, and many as volunteers who come to help on strategic projects. We are grouped into teams according to the people groups or population segments on which we are focusing. Our passion is the planting of indigenous churches that multiply themselves rapidly among the masses.

WE ARE SOUTHERN BAPTISTS, funded by thousands of generous givers through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering® and the Cooperative Program. We make every effort to be characterized by Commitment, Excellence, and Servanthood. We are committed to God, to His Word, to the vision of having a church-planting movement for every people and giving hope to every heart, to prayer, and to each other. We strive for excellence in our spiritual walk, in our family relationships, in our work as disciples and missionaries, and in our missiology. We serve in a spirit of “whatever it takes under Christ” to accomplish the task that God has set before us.

— to God, to His Word, to the vision, to prayer, and to each other. (Mark 12:28-30, 1 Cor 9:19-27)

— in spiritual walk; in balance as a family member, disciple, and missionary; in work and missiology. (Col. 3:17, 23-24)

— serving in a spirit of "whatever it takes under Christ" to accomplish the task. (1 Cor. 9:19-27, Mark 12:31)
